The University of Toronto MD Program offers a clinical advantage due to the world-class university and community affiliated hospitals. Our students complete their studies in internationally-renowned specialty hospitals.
The MD program operates under an academic structure. When students are admitted into the program, they will choose between our four academies. The academy system offers a smaller community learning environment, within the larger medical class. Each academy is affiliated with a specific set of hospitals. The St. George campus includes the FitzGerald, Peters-Boyd and Wightman-Berris Academies. The Mississauga campus has one academy - the Mississauga Academy of Medicine (MAM).
During the clerkship years, all students are able to attend rotations outside of their academy-affiliated sites. Hospitals that our students attend outside of their academy sites include The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and numerous other community affiliated hospitals around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
