Senior Leadership

Hana Lee

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! As the Director of Enrolment Services & Faculty Registrar, I oversee the operationalization of recurrent and special projects within the admissions, recruitment, registration and student finances areas of the MD Program. Together with Dr. David Latter, my colleague, I have the pleasure of coaching and supporting the work and development of our professional staff, who I believe are the very best in our country in their respective areas of expertise.

As a team, UME ES takes great pride in helping students realize their goals and contributing to the modernization of applicant and student services. As your number one allies here at U of T, your success is our utmost priority. On that note, if you ever need my assistance related to your experience here at U of T, beyond the regular Enrolment Services, you’re always welcome to reach out – we can explore your options and chart the best path forward together. Reach me at registrar.medicine@utoronto.ca. Thanks and I look forward to meeting and working with you.

With the collaboration of my colleagues and external partners I work to strengthen strategic stakeholder relationships and build communities that support our EDI efforts.

I also engage with prospective applicants and incoming students at the initial stage of their journey to Temerty Faculty of Medicine. I lead our recruitment activities and EDI programming focused on cultivating an inclusive medical school environment for everyone. If you have any questions, you can reach me at medicine.admiss@utoronto.ca. I look forward to working with you.

Admissions

Sophie Harding

Hello everyone, my name is Sophie Harding (she/her), and I am the Associate Registrar, Admissions at UME ES. My role involves advising folks from our diverse communities of learners on our admissions criteria and processes. I work, collaborate, and engage with a mixture of internal and external stakeholders, to facilitate an equitable, diverse, and inclusive admissions progression for our applicants. I work alongside a great team of individuals. We tackle the complex, multilayered and fascinating world that is MD Admissions. You can reach me at md.admissionsoffice@utoronto.ca.

Leslie Taylor

My name is Leslie Taylor and I am the Admissions Officer for the MD Program. As the Admissions Officer, I am involved with our applicants’ MD admissions journey from the start to the end of a given cycle. I maintain close communication with our applicants throughout the admissions cycle, and also advise prospective and current applicants on complex and unique circumstances at medicine.admiss@utoronto.ca.

Student Financial Services

Jennifer Osti-Fonseca

If you’ve received your offer and are now worried about how to afford your medical education, I can help! One of my main roles as Assistant Registrar, Financial Aid and Awards, is to provide students with assistance and resources to help reduce the stress involved in paying for medical education. I understand that everyone has different levels of financial literacy and that for some, discussing your financial circumstances can be uncomfortable and intimidating.  Our friendly team at UME ES Financial Aid and Awards office can help you navigate the financial aid programs offered by government and external agencies and the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at U of T.  We provide guidance and information on how to apply for U of T’s robust program of awards, scholarships, grants and bursaries and offer in-person or online one-on-one advising to every student at any time throughout their career as an undergraduate medical student at U of T. If you would like to discuss your financial circumstances in more detail, you can contact me or my colleague Fahda Kulmiye at medicine.financeawards@utoronto.ca with your query or to set up an appointment.

Fahda Kulmiye

Welcome to the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. I am the Financial Aid and Awards Coordinator. My colleague Jen, the Assistant Registrar of Financial Aid and Awards and I coordinate the expenditure of 6 million dollars of grant and bursary funding each year. We ensure that over 90% of MD students who apply for grant funding receive some financial assistance.

We also administer all the internal academic and non-academic awards at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine. We facilitate all the financial aid and awards meetings, hold financial aid workshops for MD students and do one-one advising.

Our goal is to help you graduate with as little debt as possible. You worked hard to get to medical school and staff at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine will work just as hard to support you. I am honoured to be by your side on your journey to becoming future doctors. I can be reached by email at medicine.financeawards@utoronto.ca.
