MD Fall Open House (Virtual)

Join our current Temerty Faculty of Medicine medical students who will be hosting the 2024  Fall Open House for the MD program virtually on October 19th, 2024 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm ET. 

This event offers informative sessions where you can learn about the MD program at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine from current learners, faculty, and staff. There will also be interactive panels and conversations about student life and the community. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to network with current medical students to gain insights and meet others who share similar interests.

Opening Keynote Speaker: Dr. Angela Punnett

Dr. Punnett is a Staff Oncologist within the Leukemia/Lymphoma Program in the Division of Haematology/Oncology and Associate Professor in Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. She is a Clinician Educator and current Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for Paediatrics at the University of Toronto.  Dr. Punnett completed her MD at the University of Toronto and Paediatrics Residency at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She returned to the University of Toronto for fellowship training in Paediatric Haematology/Oncology at SickKids. 

MD Curriculum Overview: Dr. Robert Goldberg 

Dr. Goldberg is a Staff Endocrinologist and Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of Toronto. He is the course director for the Concepts, Patients, and Communities 1 Course (CPC-1) in the Foundations Program at Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Goldberg completed his MD, Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship at the University of Toronto. He is also the Faculty Development Lead at the Mississauga Academy of Medicine (MAM); and is actively involved in small and large group medical student teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 

Closing Keynote Speaker:

Dr Poutanen is a Medical Microbiologist and Infectious Diseases Physician at Mount Sinai Hospital and University Health Network in Toronto, Canada and an associate professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology and Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Poutanen completed her MD, Internal Medicine and Medical Microbiology Residencies at the University of Toronto and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at Stanford University, California.  

Black Medical Student Association (BMSA) Overview:

U of T’s BMSA is a student-led organization that works to support and encourage students from communities that are underrepresented in the medical field. The support BMSA provides medical students includes outreach events, resource dissemination, mentorship and community building.

Daffydil: The Musical

For over 100 years, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto has performed Daffydil, a spectacular theatrical production, to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. Since its inception, Daffydil has raised over $600,000 for charity. The show is entirely produced, directed, written and performed by students in the Faculty of Medicine.
