FACULTY BIOS:

Dr. Emily Whelan

Dr. Emily Whelan previously obtained her MD from Dalhousie University and completed her urology residency training at UofT in 2022. She is currently completing a fellowship in endourology and robotic surgery and will be joining the urology team at Humber River Hospital in July. In addition, her current Masters in Quality Improvement focuses on decreasing opioid use in surgical patients to prevent long-term dependence. Outside of work, she has a geriatric beagle she loves to walk down at Cherry beach.

Jennifer Lake

Jennifer Lake, PharmD, PhD(c) is an assistant professor at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and the pharmacology Program Lead at Faculty of Medicine. She obtained her BSc (Pharm) from Dalhousie, then completed a hospital pharmacy residency and PharmD from UofT, and now returned for a PhD at the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation. Jennifer is passionate about integrated care and has extensive clinical experience, most recently at South East Toronto Family Health Team.

STUDENT BIOS:

Meg O'Krafka

Meg O’Krafka is a 2nd year medical radiation science student (with a focus in Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging Technology) at the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Education. She is the current president of the Medical Radiation Sciences Society and is passionate about student community. Furthermore, Meg is a residence don at the Michener and the Vice President of Operations at the Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity

Al-amin Ahamed

Al-amin (Al) Ahamed is a 3rd year pharmacy student at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. He is the president of the Undergraduate Pharmacy Society (UPS) and the editor for the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Students and Interns' newsletter, the CAPSIL. In addition, Al-amin is the co-creator of the PharmaPride Podcast (@pharmapride) and has led many initiatives to increase 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC community visibility within the faculty.

Kaitlyn Ramsay

Kaitlyn Ramsay is a 2nd year medical student at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine. She previously completed a PhD in chemistry from University of Victoria and continues to conduct research in tissue engineering as a Research Associate with the Radisic Lab at UofT. In addition to academics and research, Kaitlyn co-chairs the medical school open house. She is passionate about teaching, community, and above all, she loves her three pets (2 dogs and 1 cat).
